President Obama made an appeal Saturday (3/20) to House Democrats to vote on health care reform. Here is a quote from a news article some of what he said.
Obama told House Democrats they have arrived at "one of those moments" when they can realize their highest aspirations in public life.
"This is one of those times where you can honestly say to yourself, 'Doggone it, this is exactly why I came here,"' he said. "'Because I believe so deeply in this country and I believe so deeply in this democracy and I'm willing to stand up even when it's hard."'
Very interesting that he said “… I believe so deeply in this democracy…” I know he wishes this was a democracy, but our country is a Republic. It is based on the rule of law not what the majority may want. Our founding fathers knew exactly how dangerous a democracy can be.
Many in Washington want this country to start working like a democracy so they can continue to take away your rights, properties, freedoms, and your money. Do you know about 43% of the people in this country pay no taxes? Once that number hits 50%, nothing you have will be safe because we will essentially have a democracy.
Why is democracy bad? Well, how’s this for an example. If 10 men and 1 woman get in a room and vote if rape should be legal, what do you think the answer might be?
